Are you curious about OUL?

OUL, or Organization of Unique Learners, is a support group for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. It helps individuals who may feel lost in college or the workplace by offering guidance on accommodations. Parents of children with neurodevelopmental disabilities can also join to learn about learning styles and support needs. Professionals are welcome to share research and collaborate to improve resources.

OUL (Organization of Unique Learners) is a support network for Deaf and Hard of Hearing people. Many people in this community face challenges in school and work without proper support. Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing individuals receive guidance on accommodations in their education and workplace. OUL also help parents of children with learning differences who need information about effective learning approaches. Professional service providers are welcome to join, share research, and help develop better resources.

There aren't enough resources made specifically for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing people who have learning disabilities, autism, ADHD, or other needs. Because these specialized services are missing, people can't get the help they need to become successful in their lives.

We build a resource hub where individuals can easily find support they need. We both provide resources directly and connect people with services and professionals who understand their unique experiences.

OUL provides support to Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing individuals after they finish school, helping them transition to work life. Our services can continue throughout their lives, offering personalized help as they face different career challenges and opportunities. We adapt our guidance to each person's changing needs.

We create easy-to-understand resources about learning disabilities, Autism, ADHD, awareness, and many related topics. These materials are developed with expert input and include visual guides and practical strategies. We want these resources to be accessible and useful in both education and workplace settings.

We build networks to gather research and connect professionals, educators, and community members. These networks enable knowledge sharing, mentoring, and problem-solving. By bringing different perspectives together, we create a strong support system for our community.

We educate and connect the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community by filling information gaps. Many professionals lack knowledge about how Deafness and neurodivergence intersect to create unique needs, which is crucial to understand their needs.

Graduates lose school support systems and need resources and support in American Sign Language (ASL).

This outreach makes research accessible and raises community awareness.

We need more research on the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing community, as we currently lack comprehensive and centralized resources.

Our goal is to provide resources, evidence-based information, and specialized support that promote independence where conventional services fall short. OUL offers holistic support that embraces both Deaf identity and neurodivergent characteristics simultaneously.

Without OUL, Deaf people with neurodivergence would lack research, post-academic support, and connection services, significantly limiting access to information and appropriate support systems.

Our Vision

​It is a promotion endeavor to allow the community to be better informed, and to advocate and protect the rights of deaf people with learning disabilities, Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Intellectual Disability (ID), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), the Irlen Syndrome, and different Learning Styles.

Our Mission

​Our mission is to empower people through enhancing knowledge, experiences, and perspectives of the deaf community, enhancing education, and sharing resources for people with learning disabilities, Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Intellectual Disability (ID), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), the Irlen Syndrome, and different Learning Styles. All to be able to have support outside in the real world.
