Content Writer
Bret Comyn

For more than twenty-five years, Bret has dedicated his life to teaching American Sign Language and Deaf culture with a mix of humor, grit, and deep respect for the community he serves. His path winds through both government service and education, two worlds that taught him the value of persistence, clear communication, and purpose-driven work.
At OULDHH, Bret brings that same grounded energy to his role as a Deaf content writer, crafting stories, lessons, and reflections that highlight the richness of Deaf experience. His guiding question has always been the same: How do we create change that lasts, not just noise that fades?
Holding a Master’s degree in Education, Bret has shaped ASL curricula, consulted on language programs, and mentored countless interpreting students through the fine balance between linguistic skill and cultural understanding. His talent lies in turning complex ideas into accessible learning moments and keeping collaboration steady when projects grow tangled.
Beyond the classroom and the screen, Bret finds peace outdoors, where the rhythm of nature mirrors the rhythm of sign. Whether hiking mountain trails or spinning a story through his hands, he sees language as movement, alive, evolving, and meant to connect.
Through OULDHH, Bret continues to weave together his experience, creativity, and advocacy to build something that not only informs but uplifts, a space where Deaf voices lead, and stories endure.
