During March 1996, Cristina Berdichevsky, a professor from the Foreign Language Department, and Harry Markowicz, a professor from the English Department and a member of the Learning Disabilities Task Force, collaborated on a project that would greatly benefit the Gallaudet community. Together, they created the Gallaudet Handbook, a comprehensive guide that provides students, professors, and other members of the community with a better understanding of learning disabilities. The handbook includes detailed information on various learning disabilities and offers practical strategies for accommodating individuals with such disabilities. It also encourages open communication and collaboration among students, professors, and staff, providing a platform for sharing questions, concerns, and experiences related to learning disabilities. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of Berdichevsky and Markowicz.
