2026 Scarlett’s Park Conference: Understanding Congenital CMV and The Developing Deaf & Hard of Hearing Child

The 2026 Scarlett’s Park Conference will focus on “Congenital Cytomegalovirus and the Developing Deaf and Hard of Hearing Child.”

Congenital cytomegalovirus, commonly called congenital CMV or cCMV, is a leading cause of non-genetic hearing loss in children worldwide. However, many families, educators, healthcare providers, and future professionals may not fully understand how cCMV can affect a child’s hearing, development, education, and long-term support needs.

Why This Conference Matters

Greater awareness of congenital CMV can support earlier identification, better-informed decisions, and improved access to medical, developmental, educational, and family resources.

This virtual conference will bring together keynote speakers, panelists, and professionals from multiple fields to examine how congenital CMV affects Deaf and Hard of Hearing children across medical, educational, developmental, and family settings.

Presentations and discussions will emphasize family-centered and Deaf-informed practices, practical information, and meaningful collaboration among families, educators, healthcare providers, advocates, students, and community professionals.

The Organization of Unique Learners (OUL) is pleased to share this educational opportunity with our community. Conferences like this help increase knowledge, strengthen advocacy, and encourage more effective support for Deaf and Hard of Hearing children and their families.

Families, educators, healthcare professionals, advocates, students, and others interested in supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing children are encouraged to learn more and consider attending this important virtual event.
