Hi Community,

Friends of Lavosi has recently shared several new updates and announcements. I regularly follow their news through their Facebook page and official website. While working at the Tutorial Center at Gallaudet, I met Álvaro Ernesto De León Espinoza, Assistant Director and Special Education Coordinator. Álvaro and Cristina Berdichevsky collaborated to recruit social work and Spanish language students to work at Lavosi in Guatemala. This wonderful program helps deaf and hard-of-hearing children improve their education.

We ask you to share this with your community to request donations for their education program. These contributions will help ensure children can continue their education and build better lives after graduation.

Please enjoy the updates and announcements.

Guatemala: Celebrating 15 years of Lavosi Deaf School

Joel West Barish returns to LAVOSI (Las Voces del Silencio), a Deaf school in Jocotenango, Guatemala. He first visited in 2008, traveling alongside Alvaro De Leon and supporting his dream to establish the school in 2009. After filming their journey in 2012, Joel returned twelve years later to witness the remarkable progress and endurance of Alvaro's vision. This reunion stands as a heartening testament to the power of friendship and the pursuit of dreams within the Deaf community. (captioned)
